We're on Planet Earth with the Protector of the Universe, L Verez. Located in public, for once… we find ourselves in San Diego, California, at a street fair. Don't ask me why L is at a street fair. She confuses me as well. It's especially odd to see her in her tech suit, sticking out like a sore thumb. As she passes through the numbers of people, some asking for autographs and the sort, she finds herself in front of a woman and a cameraman. At least now I don't look foolish with my camera…
L Verez: Dani Applegate! Good to see you still doing what you love after the closing of UCI!
Dani Applegate: It's good to see you too, L. I noticed you a distance away, and wanted to see if you could answer some questions for me.
L Verez: Ask away, Milk!
Dani Applegate: After UCI’s closing, you signed for Vincent Pryde's company, New Blood Wrestling. Did you have other options, or were you still on contract?
L Verez: I most definitely had options. I chose New Blood for multiple reasons. I had my bad feelings about Vincent Pryde, from seeing his actions in UCI. I wanted to bring his mind to light, but it seems he is more clouded than I imagined. New Blood needs me, much more than UCI ever did.
Dani Applegate: How do you plan on “saving” New Blood, exactly?
L gives a faint laugh. The way the interviewer put it must've sounded a bit silly to her.
L Verez: Sadly, it isn't that simple. Between his bigoted mindset, and his tyrannical ruling, there's a lot that must be done to bring a new light to New Blood Wrestling. He's not alone either, which makes things much more difficult. You have Joe Lamarche, who runs the Bum Fight Division as if they're attack dogs. Then there's K.L. Henson, Onslaught, and the current champions. Cassidy Kaine being the main one I have my eyes set on, but he has a difficult task ahead of him.
Dani Applegate: Some fans disagree with what you're doing. To be blunt, they're not big fans of you. You've been getting mixed reactions since arriving to New Blood Wrestling. What do you say to those fans?
L Verez: Yes… the “New Blood Thirsty”. I don't exactly blame them. They were around before New Blood became the popular federation it is today. Not everyone wants your help. But what they don't understand is that Pryde is, to be honest, not a very good person. His views and the way he runs things are toxic. He doesn't view us wrestlers as people looking to make the best out of our careers. He views us as his playthings that he can manipulate however he pleases. I'm going to show him that not all of us can be toyed with…
Dani Applegate: Pryde has claimed to have taken your Guardians companion, Alex Richards. How are you dealing with this?
L closes her eyes and grits her teeth. This upset her more than she's been showing.
L Verez: I remain skeptical. Alex Richards is a very capable human. It's hard to believe he's being held captive. If he doesn't resurface soon, however, Bonnie and I may just have to take action…
Dani Applegate: Speaking of Bonnie, Blood Moon Rising is this Monday, and she sees herself facing the aforementioned Onslaught. What was your reaction when this was announced?
L smirks, showing pride for her Guardians companion.
L Verez: I was glad! This is a step in the right direction. When I debuted against Travis McKenna, I thought I was the exception, due to either being transgender, or being an extraterrestrial. Now it is clear that McKenna was booked to face women, due to the allegations of him being violent towards women. Just another example of Pryde's sociopathic humor. But now, Bonnie has the chance to prove that women truly can stand against the men in NBW. Hopefully, this will shed some light to Pryde’s eyes. He needs a reality check, and this may be just that.
Dani Applegate: Speaking of Blood Moon Rising, you're being booked to face a mystery opponent, per order of Vincent Pryde. How do you plan to go about this?
Another faint laugh from L. This wasn't the match she hoped for.
L Verez: Well, obviously, I'm at a disadvantage. Pryde must know that I look into my opponents thoroughly, and train accordingly. I'm unable to do that this week, so I must expect the unexpected. I just hope I'm facing a male competitor, so that I can further prove why women and men can indeed face each other in the same capacity. Women can fight with Trü Grit, women can fight for First Blood, and women most definitely can fight for New Blood Wrestling's top prize.
Dani Applegate: Speaking of the top prize, that brings me to my last question. Before your debut match, you mentioned having your eyes on Cassidy Kaine's NBW World Championship. This doesn't seem to have caught Pryde's attention. Your thoughts?
A regretful face is shown in L Verez, at this point.
L Verez: In UCI, I fought my way through many obstacles, and finally found myself on my way to the UCI World Heavyweight Championship. But… this isn't UCI. When I made that statement, I said that I wanted to settle unfinished business, and fight for NBW’s World Title. However, I need to realize that things don't work that way. Do I want to fight for the World Title? Of course. But I realize that I'm not the person Pryde wants to represent New Blood Wrestling. I'm far, far from it. It's going to take a lot of convincing to show him that I am the right person to hold the crown. But rest assured, no matter what ridiculous obstacle he puts in my way, I will overcome it. I'm more of an underdog now than ever before, and I have to prove to everyone that I'm worth much more than they think I am. I have to prove that to the New Blood Thirsty, to the regime, and especially to Vincent Pryde.
Dani Applegate: Thank you for your time today, L Verez, and good luck on your match, and on your future in New Blood Wrestling.
L Verez: The pleasure was all mine, Ms. Applegate. I hope the best for you and your career.
They shake hands, and L bows to the interview before she takes her leave. L sighs whilst pushing her hair back.
L Verez: Now for why we're really here. We need to find where that Shade is hiding…
