Kendrick has seen success since joining New Blood Wrestling. A perfect record after three matches? That isn’t a bad record. Sure, some people may say they are weak wins, but a win is a win. Ask anyone, any win is a good win. Every win that you stack up and add to your resume, whether it’s against a world champion, or someone who is new, gets you that much closer to a chance at a title. So naturally, Kendrick had to wonder why he was stuck in a tag match? He figured that going perfect through the first three matches should earn him at least a chance at a title shot. Obviously not. Three straight wins to start a career must not be impressive enough so they have to put him in a lowly tag match. He didn’t understand it. What was the point? It’s a dumb match. He has no quarrels with the tag champions. Why must he be put in a random match that will have no impact on his future.
The scene opens to sounds of click, clack, click, clack. The camera slowly comes on and focuses to a dark hallway. The long hallway leads to a room that has all the lights cut out, light from a TV is seen as the clicking and clacking stays at the same pace and tone that it has been since the opening. The camera moves down the dark hall and enters the room where the light from the TV was coming from. The 50 inch Sony 4K TV has the Olympics on with the speed skating relay on. Kendrick is sitting on the couch, eyes focused on the TV when the camera operator clears his throat announcing their presence.
“Oh, sorry. Didn’t see you there. Was busy watching the Olympics. Would you like to watch it with me?”
Camera Operator: “No, you have a match coming up? Don’t you need or want to say a few words?”
“I suppose I can.”
Kendrick picks up the remote to the Satellite box and presses the pause button halfway through the race. He sets the remote down on the coffee table and motions for the operator to sit down on the oversized recliner that is placed across from the couch he is sitting upon.
“I have a tag team match that I am supposed to be in this week. What a crock. Don’t I deserve a number one contenders match or a title shot or something of the like? I’ve won my first three matches. Come on, give a fella a break. Anyways. I’m not the biggest fan of tag matches, as you can probably tell. I don’t have a tag team partner, I don’t even really have friends. There’s a reason behind that, I trust no one. What has anyone done here to earn my trust? Nothing yet.I’m supposed to be teaming up with Shadowlove. The man who didn’t even show up to the damn triple threat match that was supposed to be my first match. If he didn’t show up for that how in the hell do I know he’s showing up for this? I don’t. So, I ask. Why should I trust anyone?”
Kendrick clears his throat and takes a deep breath. He takes a look over at the paused screen that shows an American in the lead currently.
“You see that? That’s trust. That’s a true tag team. Multiple people in a relay representing their country. I don’t have that trust with anyone. The Razzle Dazzlers of Fantazzmazzlers. By the way, what kind of name is that? Did a unicorn shoot that out of their ass for you? Sounds like it. Anyways. That unicorn named team is the NBW Tag Team Champions. So, I figure they actually have some coherence, some trust in one another. Shadow and I don’t have that. So, we must be in a big disadvantage….right? Wrong.”
Kendrick lets out a little smile and a laugh. Kendrick gathers his thoughts and takes a breath and exhales.
“Just because someone may be the NBW Tag Team Champions or they may be an actual tag team doesn’t mean they have coherence or the ability to know one another like the back of their hand. Have they even truly defended their titles since somehow winning them? No? Then how do they know they are truly good enough to hold those titles? They don’t. No one knows, yet they’re hailed as tag team champions. Want to know why? Because if you look there isn’t really another damn tag team at the moment to challenge them. They’re just placeholders. That’s what they are.”
Kendrick lets out a small laugh at his last remark, actually finding it a good one. A small smile crosses his face before refocusing and eyeing the camera again.
“Look at them. They both are from some place they call the multiverse. Knock Knock. Who’s there? No one? Thought so. Where exactly is a damn multiverse. Did you two eat lead when you were kids? I mean, it sure sounds like it. Damn multiverses and unicorn names. Might as well call you unicorn dazzlers. Hey, there’s a new team name! The Unicorn Dazzlers of Loozalers! No? Not funny? Damn.”
Kendrick shakes his head trying to comprehend everything about these two. The weirdest bunch of nuts he’s ever heard of and he’s seen and heard a lot.
“Okay. So a tag match has four components which are the four people right? You turn that into a three component match and what do you got? A two on one. Do I need to spell it out for the dazzlers? Four minus one is three. Okay. Now. I may not be a people person or someone who is easy to get along with but I can say I’m sure Shadow and I can get along for one night. At least I think. To take out the unicorn lovers...the unicorn lovers name. Ricardo Frenches and Broski Jayden. You sure it isn’t Brewski? I could use one of those. They both claim they’re from a multiverse. Which I’m guessing is something like parallel universes. Which, I do believe, there is no scientific proof of. So I think the multiverse you speak of is in your head. Let’s refocus though. You see those skaters? They train, and they train, and they train. Some of them even do 5,000 Meters by themselves. They do all of this so they can make sure they win the race. They just don’t have pride on the line though. They have a gold medal, pride for their country on the line and it brings the best of the best out of people. That’s what I want to see.”
Kendrick lets out a laugh and a smile. Kendrick readjusts himself, laying halfway on and halfway off of his brown cloth couch. Gathering his thoughts he takes a deep breath and lets out a smirk.
“If the company or yourself had any balls this would be a tag title match. I mean, if you want the best champions they should defend them every or almost every week right? Sure. Shadow and I may not be the ideal partners but you don’t think if it was for gold we wouldn’t be able to get along? We would be like best buds. That’s what this match should have been for. I have three wins in three tries. Shadow is a solid dude. What is everyone waiting for? Next year?”
Kendrick rolls his eyes, still laying on the couch, his arm resting on the top of it.
“That’s one of the things I like about relays, they are always for something. Going for some type of titles. True competitions always are so if the tag champions are true competitors why don’t they put the titles on the line more often? It only seems fair, or is it that they know that any other tag team could pose a threat to them? I wouldn’t be surprised if that was it. I mean, he wouldn’t want to go after those unicorn men and take those titles from them? I’m surprised they don’t have sparkles on them yet.”
“Here it is, plain and simple. You dazzlers or fantazzmazzlers or whatever azzlers you are. If you want the true competition show up on your A game Monday. Because as much as Shadow and I most likely won’t get along we’ll definitely both have the drive to take your unicorn asses to unicorn hell.”
Kendrick takes a breath and looks sternly at the camera, almost like he’s trying to burn a hole through it.
“Shadow. I swear. If you even TRY to screw me out of this win for us. It won’t be pretty. We may not get along but that doesn’t mean we can’t meet for a mutual agreement to take these rainbow horse lovers out. We need to do this and hell, if it’s successful maybe even take those tag titles off of them. Blasphemous I know, but who knows. We could be a good team. You don’t turn on me, I don’t turn on you. But you try something I’ll be your worst nightmare. Don’t test me man.”
Kendrick turns away from the camera and presses the play button, the clickity clack of the skates returns.
